A month into 2026, we are hard at work and back to business at GoTEN, where we continue to focus on helping refugees learn English, get jobs, and experience Christian community.
Our sewing ministry and its storefront, Shop Refugee, saw encouraging success in 2025. In addition to opening the store for in-person shopping over the summer, the program has a healthy roster of 22 seamstresses currently enrolled and experiencing the community that we strive to create. These seamstresses connect with seven weekly volunteers, but there is always a desire for that to expand. Four currently active sewing classes are offered each week and we would love to get you connected!
ESL classes are back in full swing as well, and continue to fill classrooms with motivated students eager to practice their English with a native speaker. We are often operating at capacity in terms of students, but rarely volunteers. There are always opportunities to serve in our ESL classes!
Our kids program continues to operate alongside our ESL program, and actively supports refugee parents by providing care for their children while they learn English next door. It goes beyond childcare though, as our program offers the opportunity to support refugee kids in their early learning years, providing a strong base for their education journey.
As we get back to work building community among refugees in our neighborhood, GoTEN would like to invite you in as well! Never served? We’ll train you. Take the first step and attend a First Serve in February!
